2 New musicals for July 2010! "Shout!" and "Love Journey"

Coming up next week "Shout! the Mod Musical" opens on the 15th July with multiple shows everyday until the 21st of July. Starring Ning Baizura, Tria Aziz, Tisha Zarina, Nikki Palikat, Shanel Shanty James, Stephanie Van Den Driesen and Joanna Bessey as the voice of 'Gwendolyn Holmes'.


SHOUT! is the mod musical magazine that brings back the beautiful birds and smashing sounds that made England swing in the 60's.

SHOUT! flips through the years like a musical magazine and takes you back to the music, the fashion and the freedom of the 60's! This smashing revue tracks five groovy gals as they come of age during those liberating days that made England swing! Join this non-stop journey through the infectious and soulful pop anthems and ballads that made household names of stars like Petula Clark, Dusty Springfield and Lulu. SHOUT! uses letters to an advice columnist, true confessions, quizzes and advertisements as a frame for terrific new arrangements of such chart-topping hits as "To Sir With Love," "Downtown," "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me," "Son of A Preacher Man," and "Goldfinger." With its irresistible blend of hip-swiveling hits, eye-popping fashions and psychedelic dances from the 60's, this fun-filled musical will make you want to throw your head back and SHOUT!

Following "Shout!" Joanna shall be performing/singing with the Michael Veerapen Trio in a special staging of songs from her "Love Journey". Feel the fusion between the theatre and a jazz club in Pentas 2 KLPAC from 28th July- 1st August, as you'll catch a rare performance of Joanna Bessey singing!




There is something about the music of the early 1900s. It was such an exciting time for jazz and blues. Radio stations were mushrooming all over America and the likes of Bessie Smith, Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald were on the rise.

Now almost a century later, the recordings of these greats still sit on the shelves of music lovers all over the world.

In Love Journey, you'll be transported back in time to a different era with music from the 1920s through to the 1950s. Malaysia's jazz legend Michael Veerapen and entertainment personality Joanna Bessey will be performing standards like Love Me or Leave Me, Cry Me a River, I Loves You Porgy, St. Louis Blues and Bye Bye Blackbird.

Audience will feel like they are in a bar even though they are in a theatre. That's because we will be re-creating a similar intimate and cozy atmosphere complete with an actual bar and bartender!

It will be a fantastic, new experience for music lovers where they can sit back and immerse themselves in the wonderful music and not be distracted by the din of a noisy bar.
